Cultural Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and Director of China Cultural Centre, Yang Jianxing has said that China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) which was approved by the National People’s Congress (NPC) in March 2026 would see China share development opportunities with Nigeria and other countries of the world.
Speaking at the China Cultural Centre 2026 Chinese Language Program Phase 1 Graduation Ceremony and Cultural Salon themed: “Travel in China – North East Edition, Yang informed that China will further promote high-quality economic and social development, strengthen cultural exchanges and cooperation with Nigeria and other countries.
Emphasizing on the power of language in cooperation, Yang noted that Learning Chinese was undoubtedly a crucial shortcut to gaining a comprehensive understanding of China and realising one’s dreams through participation in mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Nigeria in various fields.
Continuing, Yang while describing China as a vast country with diverse cultures, said language culture session would focus on Northeast China, Zhongguo Dongmen, with fertile soil and developed agriculture.
He urged audience to visit Northeast China, Zhongguo Dongmen, whenever in China to explore the rich natural and cultural landscapes of other regions of China.
He said that Northeast China was China’s greenery and once the cradle of China’s heavy industry.
Yang highlighted that development of Chinese civilization, validates a unique artistic charm, ideological and cultural value of Chinese culture, and was a common cultural treasure of all humankind.
He informed that Chinese is one of the six official languages of the United Nations with over 190 countries and regions worldwide implementing Chinese language teaching, with over 200 million international learners and users.
Yang while saying the students were an important part of Chinese language society, expressed hope that the event would serve as an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements they have made through their studies, and to appreciate and share the unique charm of Chinese culture.
Also speaking, Chinese Language Instructor, Qiu Nan who said that Chinese language was unique in every sense urged Nigerians to learn it saying is a sure way of building more bridges of friendship and promoting stronger partnership.
A senior Management Staff of the Federal Capital Administration and one of the graduands, Amb. Princess Glory-Grace D. Shainaan who thanked the China Cultural Centre for granting her the opportunity of learning described Chinese as language of most interesting and knowledgeable people in the world.
Shainaan who was fascinated with the teaching process and learning method of the institution said it was a system with standardized training delivered by great personalities and professionals.
Her words, “For years, I wasn’t able to come and learn Chinese language. When the opportunity came, I ran with it. I was excited, curious, happy, a little bit afraid and willing. So, I registered.
The Chinese Cultural Center in Nigeria, is right at our doorsteps, in the heart of Abuja. Just like many, I came to learn. We listened, so we could speak, read and write the language of one of the most interesting and knowledgeable people of the world!
“Yang Jiānxing, thank you for gathering us here. You are a humble, friendly, efficient and very organized Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of China, and Director of the China Cultural Center in Nigeria.
“My fellow students from all works of life and particularly, my classmates, showed up, eager and willing to assimilate the teaching processes and learning methods of this great institution. A system with standardized training, delivered by great professionals.
“A huge appreciation to you all at the Embassy of China. The Diplomatic Ambassadorial Representatives, hardworking staff and diligent workers” she stated.
However, the event was not just a language graduation event, but a celebration and appreciation of culture, heritage, knowledge, fruitful partnership and friendship that were mutually beneficial.
Above all, the ceremony took audience to a cultural voyage in North East China enlightening them on their songs, dances, traditions, foods, serene environment, natural habitations, peaceful ambiance and total way of life surrounded by uniqueness.
