Kaduna State Social Investment Programme Agency revealed that progress has been made in the enrollment of poor and vulnerable in the Social Register, as over 2 million residents of the State have been added into the Kaduna State Financial Inclusion Register.
This revelation was made known at an advocacy visit to the agency by Civil Society representatives of the Open Government Partnership Technical Working Group On Social Protection in the state.
The visit was aimed at bolstering collaborations and commitment towards Strengthening Social Protection System in Kaduna State.
The State Coordinator, Mallam Umar Sani Maikudi told members of the technical working group that KADSIPA was able to achieve this through parntership with banks, ensuring that every resident of Kaduna is financially included.
“We have partnered with commercial banks who helped with opening bank accounts for people, and created awareness through community leaders to ensure that residents without bank accounts are able to have one”. According to him, financial inclusion is not just about having bank accounts, but ensuring that one is able to make and receive payments through the account.
The agency also called on members of the Civil Society to continue the good job by supporting to track government social protection programmes, and escalate irregularities for immediate action.
Speaking on behalf of CS, Sumayya Abdullahi, the Co-chair Social Protection Technical Working Group appreciated the leadership of KADSIPA for their commitment and support towards ensuring success of social protection programmes in the state.
