No fewer than two hundred Track and Field Athletes at the weekend in Abuja competed in the inaugural edition of the Richard Agbonifo Athletic Championship for Boys and Girls who are majorly under 14.
The championship was held at the tracks of the Training Pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja with spectators and parents watching their children performing wonder.
According to the organizer and the founder, Richard Agbonifo, Hand-2-Hand Foundation who is based in Germany, said his motivation was to support the children in track and fields because he has equally support Handball in the six local government of Abuja in Boys and Girls Handball championships.
“Our target is to help the less privileged in Nigeria to atain their potential, my foundation has done it in handball, I want to do it in various sports, I am not looking at it from handball angle because play handball, I will touch many sports in order to help Nigerians.
“We have discovered many that the foundation will help to University level and many will go home with prizes,” Agbonifo said.
People daily gathered that training shoes, jerseys were given to athletes to participating during the Championship.
