2,000 Delta NSCDC personnel undergo psychological, mental assessment -Commandant

No fewer than 2,000 officers and men of Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) have under gone mental, psychological assessment.
The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr Benito Eze who confirmed this to journalists in Asaba on Monday , said that the assessment was measure to ascertain their mental alertness and productive as instructed by Federal government in the wake of protests against the increasing happy trigger Officers across the country “We have conducted the exercise in line with the productive of the Officers in their duties, and in recognition of their mental ability so that they could be placed in the right duty line, and would help the NSCDC to know where the officers had Challenges and then offer corrective measures to manage the situation”, Eze said
He disclosed that the exercise was on going across the country, stressing that it had been huge success in Delta State chosen as one of the Pilot States to kick start the assessment adding that it was an instrument designed to measure unobserved conducts also known as talent variable among Officers Dr Eze said that the goals of the exercise included to establish a forensic Psychological Data base for NSCDC that will help to accurately assess personnel that will be charged with the responsibilities of securing critical national assets and infrastructure and for the defending the defenceless.
“Our goals of the exercise, is the understanding the individual and personal symptoms in the conduct of overall functions to determine appropriate professional intervention, to promote the wellbeing of the officers and system generally and to be used as pre-recruitment screening tool in the future”, he said.
