Minister-of-Information-Labaran-MakuBy Evelyn Okakwu

Minister of information, Labaran Maku has stated that the All Progressives congress, (APC) will not escape what he described as the volcanic eruption, in 2015, despite its many propaganda against the PDP.

A statement from the Minister’s head of media and publicity, Joseph Mutah, said Labaran Maku was speaking in defense of PDP’s decision to endorse President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the party’s consensus candidate.

According to the statement, Maku said the decision was a natural reaction following the party’s observation of President Jonathan’s success in the first four years; “APC’s propaganda will not save them from the simmering volcanic eruption that is about to tear the party apart over who becomes its Presidential candidate”.

“No amount of diversionary propaganda and bare faced lies will save the APC from its internal crises and ultimate defeat in the next Presidential elections,” the statement added.

It noted that the said decision was welcomed with alleged lies aimed at destroying PDP’s reputation, and diverting attention from APC’s many crises.

“Since PDP gave President Jonathan the go ahead to contest the 2015 presidential election, the APC has been thrown into vicious lies and propaganda to hide its chronic internal crisis.

“They keep attacking the PDP for uniting behind the President. They are afraid of the new unity of purpose in PDP and the President’s leadership and achievements. Since 1999 which incumbent President or Governor was ever replaced by the ruling party in midterm elections?

When a party changes a sitting Governor or President in midterm polls, it’s an admission that the party in power has not performed and doesn’t deserve reelection”.

The statement further added that: “”That’s the situation in most presidential democracies, particularly the US after which we patterned our own presidential system.”
