From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna
Niger state Governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has declared that he has no anointed candidate for the sole PDP ticket in the state ahead of the 2015 gubernatorial election.
This is coming as he warned the gubernatorial aspirants against running afoul of the laws of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) banning campaigns until the flag is raised.
Aliyu made the declaration in Minna yesterday when he received the Lapai and Katcha communities who paid him a thank you visit for the flag off of the Badeggi-Katcha-Baro road project to be executed by the state government.
“I don’t have a candidate. I cant play God; when the time comes, we will all vote to pick our candidate. If it is the act of God one of the candidates will get the ticket”.
Aliyu however said “I will prefer somebody who is familiar with what we are doing to take over so that if there is any leftover, he can continue”.
He told all the aspirants who have increased the tempo of their campaigns ahead of the PDP primaries that they should be cautious about what they are doing so that they don’t run afoul of the INEC laws which has given a period when those campaigns by political parties and candidates to start.
He said that any aspirant who runs afoul of the law risked being banned from running for the position being sought in addition to other sanctions.
Similarly Governor Aliyu told the aspirants to stop wasting their money on foot soldiers who pretend to be supporting them in the day time only to give their backing to their political opponents in the night all in a bid to get money.
The Governor told the communities that the administration will continue to serve the people by delivering more dividends of democracy to them adding that those who have accused the government of non performance have now been put to shame.
