2015: Plateau Central seeks gubernatorial seat

Date:

From Ado Abubkar Musa, Jos

As politicians map out strategies toward 2015, PDP stakeholders in Plateau Central Senatorial District, yesterday said it was their turn to produce the next governor of the state.

This demand was contained in a communiqué issued after a meeting in Pankshin. The zone claimed that it was its turn to replace Governor Jonah Jang, especially since the all three senatorial zones had had their slots.

Mr Yusuf Tokit, the PDP National Vice Chairman, North Central, who read the communiqué, said that since all three zones had occupied the governorship seat, the zoning formula should re-start with the central zone.

“The zone has consistently supported other zones and should be supported this time,’’ the stakeholders said.

The zone said that it had eminently qualified people to bid for the job, and called for unity from among members to achieve the dream.

The communiqué however condemned the activities of Boko Haram religious sect, especially the bombing of some parts of the state that led to loss of lives.

It sympathized with victims of the three bomb blasts, and called on the all stakeholders and public to condemn every act of terrorism in the country.

The communique also urged stringent security precautions against future attacks. The zone comprised five local governments – Bokkos, Mangu, Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam.
