From Akilani Abdullah, Lagos

Ahead of the 2015 general election, a group, The Aware Women Centre (AWC) has called on all the key players in the political arena to give the women more roles and responsibility to play in the charge of nation building.

This according to the group is for the women to work in oneness spirit of a nation with the men in order to improve the women folks also to better the country and the world at large.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Aware Women Centre held recently, the initiator and founder of the group, Dr. Mrs. Adefolahan Awosika said the women should be allowed to hold responsible position in the society.

Her words: “I will like to see a change in our political terrain, honest people to be in power and if they give women the chance, women will perform very well, there’s corruption everywhere, a few women may have been caught up with it but majority rise above it, we build the homes, we build the society and more women are coming out now because God himself is promoting women, so more women are holding responsible position because God has decreed it. This is the time for women to exhibit that love in their heart and the love is powerful because it’s the women tool and it is a tool we can use to change the world.

“The Almighty has declared that this is the time for the promotion of womanhood; that the women have been oppressed over the years. Their energies have been suppressed for so long. That is why women are coming forward to take their proper places in the affairs of the world and nobody can stop that it from happening.

“A very wise male leader, who acknowledges the positive role of women, is likely to be more successful as a leader than the one, who oppresses women. He will have more peace around himself and more joy in his activities and responsibilities to the nations of the world.” She said.

Awosika who urged the women that there is no spirituality higher than awareness added that the women should seek to be aware of things in their immediate society.

She said: “Awareness brings you peace of mind. When you become aware, you are at peace with yourself and with all others because you have gone beyond all prejudices and judgments. Whether you are a Christian, Muslim, traditional worshiper or whichever way you choose to worship your creator, your perception of truth is heightened when you reach a higher level of awareness and this helps you tackle the difficulties and problems of life.”

She also advised the women to take advantage of the power of love which resides in them and use it in changing the world.
