The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) National Population Commission (NPC) has appointed the executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu as the head of AMAC Census Adhoc publicity committee alongside 12 members.
Presenting his address at the inauguration of the committee members in AMAC recently, the Federal Commissioner representing the FCT at National Population Commission, Hon. Joseph Shazin Kwali, said the commission’s journey was geared towards the successful conduct of the 2023 census in order to generate evidence based demographic data for development planning.
According to Kwali, the overarching vision of the 2023 census is to produce not only accurate, reliable and acceptable census data but also an inclusive and user-friendly data that will be used by all segments of the society for development planning and critical programme interventions.
Continuing, he said “as part of this commitment the FCT office will deploy full digital technology in the conduct of the census and it will leave no residents of FCT and the international stone unturned in ensuring that the results of the census is acceptable to all best standards. This aspiration has informed the methodology and quality of advocacy, publicity and public enlightenment cannot over emphasized”.
Shazin said the leadership of the commission would give the necessary support to the committee so as to carry out a very significant national assignment in AMAC.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of AMAC, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, said being the Chairman of the committee he would solicit support for the 2023 population and Housing census in the area.
Maikalangu, therefore, advised the members of the committee to work hand-in-hand with him in order to achieve the desired purposes.
