FCT Minister re-instates Village Head of Dukpa Community

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, has re-instated the Village Head of Dukpa Community in Gwagwalada Area Council, Yunusa Gomna following the lingering Chieftaincy tussle in the community.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Mandate Secretary of the Area Councils Services Secretariat (ACSS), Ibrahim Abubaikar Dantsoho and made available to Peoples Daily Correspondent on Tuesday.
“The re-instatement was based on the report of the committee on Dukpa Chieftaincy dispute submitted by Hon. Adamu Mustapha Danze, the then Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council on the 16th September, 2021 and the report of the facts finding committee on Dukpa Chieftaincy dispute headed by the mandate secretary, Ibrahim Abubakar Dantshoho which also made its recommendations”, the statement said.
Also, in a Peace Accord between the two ruling houses at Dukpa which was signed by the heads of all security operatives in Gwagwalada Area Council on the 18th of April, 2023 pointed out that each of the contending houses had accepted the re-instatement of the Village Head of Dukpa community.
The Peace Accord warned that anybody who causes breach of peace in the community would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
In an interview with newsmen, the reinstated village Head of Dukpa, His Royal Highness Yunusa Gomna, thanked the FCT Minister of state as well as the Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri for his re-instatement.
He said his leadership would take the people of Dukpa community along in the scheme of things, calling for the support and co-operation of everybody in the community.
He also said as the Village Head of Dukpa he would continue to listen to the complains of his people as well proffer solution to them.
The Dukpa Village Head, however, pointed out that he would deem it necessary to co-operate with other traditional rulers in Gwagwalada for the overall development of the Area Council.
On his part, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Gwagwalada Chairman on Chieftaincy matters, Mr. Abdullahi Magaji expressed with joy as Dukpa Monarch was given his title back.
