2023: SDP holds parallel congresses, gets two factions in Oyo

The Oyo State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has held parallel congresses to elect state executive members of the party in the State.

The congresses was in preparation for the forthcoming general elections in 2023.

The two factions within the party at the weekend held parallel congresses where two executive members emerged.

The congresses were held simultaneously at two different locations in Ibadan, the state capital.

It was gathered that one of the congresses was held at the National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan.

The second congress was held at Havanah Royale, beside the University of Ibadan.

It was claimed that the congress, which took place at Aleshinloye produced Yinka Folahan as Chairman.

The second congress which took place at Havanah Royale produced Kola Balogun as Chairman.

Other members who will serve as members of Folahan’s faction are; Leye Egunobi who emerged as Secretary, Dasola Adebayo who emerged as Women leader, Otunba Tunde Laoye who emerged as Public Relatives Officer, Princess Kemi Oshinowo who emerged as Organising Secretary and Akintan Oladele who emerged as Youths leader.

Folahan, while speaking, explained that the congress which produced him as Chairman was attended by all the party executives from the 33 local government areas in the state.

He said that the congress was conducted by the outgoing Chairman of the party, Ambassador Olugbenga Curtis.
