Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Igede Progressive Movement in collaboration with the good people of the Idoma nation has obtained expression of interest and nomination form for Hon. Nelson Alapa to represent Zone C Senatorial District of Benue State, under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chief Ogbo Joseph Douglas (Ajugwuma 1 of Igede nation) who led the delegation, said they are setting the record straight by picking the interest and nomination form for Hon. Nelson Alapa to represent the good people of Zone C Senatorial District in the forthcoming general election in Benue State in 2023.
Chief Ogbo said they are united for the development of the Idoma nation ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The Igede Movement stated that their decision to pick the nomination form and drum support for Hon. Nelson Alapa was borne out of the fact that the former lawmaker is a tested and trusted grassroots politician who will always work for the interest and development of his people.
“Having served the APC since inception to the highest echelon of decision making, and having served as a principal officer of the National Assembly, Hon. Nelson Alapa is most qualified, to represent the people of Benue South at the negotiating table, when issues of development, security, women and youth empowerment would be discussed at the upper legislative chamber.
“You cannot represent the people you don’t know. You cannot represent the people you don’t even understand. You cannot represent the people that you don’t even understand the challenges they are going through. You must know them, you must understand them before you can represent them.
“Hon. Nelson Alapa is a grassroots politician and understands very clearly, the plights of the good people of Zone C Senatorial District. That is why we are supporting his Senatorial ambition”, the group added.
Alapa, a former member of House of Representatives who served the people of Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency had earlier declared his intention to fly the APC Senatorial flag in 2023.
Alapa, who made history as the Minority Whip of the 6th House of Representatives while representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency of Benue State, is currently a member of the National Working Committee of APC and had served the party in various capacities.
