Governor Uba Sani has consistently demonstrated that health is not a privilege, but a fundamental human right in Kaduna State since assuming office. This is reflected in his policies and the enhanced welfare of healthcare personnel.
The Commissioner of Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, reiterated this on Sunday.
She stated that the Governor is not only upgrading Primary Healthcare Centres and hospitals across the state but also improving the welfare of those who operate within the health sector.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, indicated that the Commissioner has pledged to address all outstanding promotions for medical personnel this year, as 15% of the 2026 budget has been allocated to the health sector.
“The Ministry will evaluate all cases of promotions in its parastatals, involving all personnel in the health sector. Those who are deserving will be promoted,” she promised.
The Commissioner emphasized that Governor Uba Sani has been attentive to the welfare of medical personnel since taking office.
She recalled that last year, health workers in Kaduna State commended him for implementing the Consolidated Salary Structure.
“The Kaduna State Council of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) wrote a letter of commendation to Governor Uba Sani last September, praising him for the implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for their members.”
The commendation was conveyed in a letter signed by Comrade Ishaku Yakubu, the State Chairman, and Comrade Christiana Bawa, the State Secretary, and dated September 2, 2025.
“The council noted that this singular act of generosity and fairness has rekindled hope among many dedicated nurses in your administration and aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President,” she recalled.
The Commissioner also mentioned that the Kaduna State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), represented by its Chairman, Dr. Hassan Baba Salihu, has similarly commended Governor Uba Sani for implementing CONMESS and CONHESS.
