2026 FCT Councils’ elections: Village Head tasks political parties on peaceful conduct

The Village Head of Angwan Gbari in Gwagwalada Area council of the FCT,  Alhaji Aliyu Yunusa, has charged  the political parties and their candidates to ensure peaceful atmosphere during the forthcoming 2026 FCT Area Councils elections.

He equally advised politicians not to take the game of politics as a do-or-die affair, urging  the youths not to allow themselves to be used in causing confusion during elections.

Yunusa, who gave the charge in an interview with People Daily, in Gwagwalada, also tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as the security agencies to ensure a level playing ground and peaceful atmosphere during the elections in the territory.

He equally pleaded with Nigerians to stop mixing religion with politics in the interest of peace and development in the FCT the country at large.

He further appealed to both Muslins and Christians to continue to live in peace with each other irrespective of their political inclinations.

Speaking on the ruling party consensus handling by the committee Chairmen across the Area Councils, the community called on the committee to choose  the candidates who can pull the crowd during the 2026 elections.
