Date:

bala fct minister… To install special systems to detect metal, explosive devices

By Stanley Onyekwere

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is to refer any serious case amongst those injured in the Monday’s Nyanya bomb blast, to referral or specialist government and private hospitals for proper care, and the bills be paid from the coffers of the Administration.

Also, the Administration assured it would provide full medical treatment and feeding to all those injured in the unfortunate bomb blast, which claimed 71 lives, with over 100 others injured, at Nyanya, a suburb in the FCT, in the early hours of Monday.

The FCT minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, who made this disclosure yesterday, after visiting the scene of the blast and the Asokoro District Hospital where some of the survivors are receiving treatment, however directed the FCT Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr. Ademola Onakomaiya, to immediately commence the referral process.

He condemned the attack, which he described as wicked and heartless, saying that the FCTA would look at the window to install special mechanisms to detect metal or explosive devices on its high capacity buses to preserve human lives.

Mohammed who cut short his trip to Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj, commiserated with the people that lost their loved ones and those who survived but sustained various degrees of injuries.

According to him, “the FCT Administration would meet with security agencies to exploit ways of providing additional security for motor parks, markets and other public places in the FCT.”
