2027: Adamawa APC gets new executives through consensus

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has consolidated its hold on Adamawa State following the emergence of a new state executive through a consensus arrangement, in what party leaders describe as a strategic step toward securing victory in the 2027 elections.
The state congress, held at the Mahmud Ribadu Square and chaired by Ambassador Baba Gana Ajimi, formally dissolved the outgoing executive council before ushering in a new leadership team without contest, underscoring what insiders call a carefully managed political alignment.
The dissolution motion was moved by the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Kate Raymond Mamunu, and seconded by Toungo Local Government Chairman, Suleiman Ahmed Gangkuba, effectively ending the tenure of the previous exco.
Subsequently, the congress adopted a consensus process, with Senator Grace Bent moving the motion, which was seconded by Hon. Sunday Peter, a former Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly.
Following a voice vote by delegates, Ajimi announced the new executives, naming Hamza Bello Madagali as state chairman, alongside other key officials including Dr. Raymond Chindama (vice chairman) and Mustapha Atiku Ribadu (secretary).
Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri described the development as a “political evolution,” declaring that the state has now achieved full integration into the APC structure.
According to him, the consensus-driven congress reflects a deliberate effort to unify previously divergent political blocs into a single, formidable platform.
“What we have achieved is not just alignment, but a full fusion of political structures across all levels,” the governor said, adding that compromises made by stakeholders were necessary for broader party stability.
Fintiri maintained that despite individual expectations not being fully met, the process produced no losers, emphasizing that unity remains critical to the party’s electoral prospects.
The governor also unveiled a new grassroots mobilisation platform, “Adamawa Renewed Hope 226 Movement (ARH226M),” designed to penetrate all 226 wards in the state and strengthen the party’s base ahead of future elections.
Party leaders say the smooth conduct of ward, local government, and state congresses signals growing internal cohesion within the APC, positioning it as a dominant force in Adamawa’s evolving political landscape.
