A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Iyiola Oyedepo, has declared that only a credible third-force political movement can unseat the ruling establishment and transform Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in an interview in Ilorin, Oyedepo, a prominent figure in the 2019 “Otoge” political movement that ended the long reign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, argued that the internal crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) has significantly weakened its chances of retaining power.

He accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of betraying the confidence reposed in him after the 2019 elections, alleging that the governor’s style of leadership had created deep divisions within the party.

According to Oyedepo, he had warned party leaders as far back as 2024 about the consequences of the governor’s approach but claimed his concerns were ignored.

While acknowledging that the APC crisis could create opportunities for the PDP, the ADC stalwart maintained that both major parties suffer from similar leadership challenges and political godfatherism.

He therefore urged Kwarans to support a political platform free from dynastic control and vested interests, insisting that only such a movement could deliver sustainable development and genuine political liberation for the state.
