The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has maintained that criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration by opposition groups will not undermine his political support base in northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A member of the council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, stated this on Tuesday while reacting to criticisms from opposition parties, insisting that supporters of the President across the region remained committed to his re-election bid.

Kwankwaso dismissed suggestions that opposition attacks could weaken Tinubu’s standing in the North, declaring that the President’s supporters had no reason to reconsider their position.

“There is no panic and no going back in our support for Tinubu. The criticisms coming from the opposition will not stop us from voting for him in the North,” he said.

The APC chieftain described the opposition’s activities as part of political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 elections, arguing that such criticisms would not diminish what he characterized as the President’s growing support across northern communities.

He maintained that voters in the region were more concerned about issues directly affecting their daily lives, including economic recovery, security, infrastructure development, employment opportunities and national stability.

According to him, the policies and programmes introduced by the Tinubu administration since assuming office have continued to strengthen confidence among the President’s supporters.

Kwankwaso also disclosed that APC supporters would intensify grassroots mobilization across northern communities to explain government policies and showcase the administration’s achievements ahead of the elections.

He urged party members not to be distracted by opposition criticism but to concentrate on strengthening party structures, sustaining engagement with voters and mobilizing support for Tinubu’s re-election.

His remarks come amid increasing political activities and competing narratives among political parties as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
