2027: APC vows to take over government House in Oyo

By Jude Opara

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), has disclosed that the party is ready to wrestle power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in the state in 2027.
Acting chairman of the party, Alhaji Olayide Abas, made this declaration while speaking in Ibadan, the state capital.
It would be recalled that the PDP candidate, Seyi Makinde, defeated the APC candidate, Adebayo Adelabu and candidates of other political parties to win the 2019 gubernatorial election.
Makinde also in 2023 defeated the APC candidate, Teslim Folarin and other candidates of other political parties to win the election for the second term in the office.
Abas has, however, vowed that APC is ready to dislodge PDP in order to reclaim the Agodi Government House.
He made this submission while addressing some leaders of the party from the six local government councils in Ibadan Outer City Zone.
Abas assured that the party would return to power by reclaiming the governorship seat from the ruling party in the state.
He said: “With the array of eminent personalities in this delegation and the message you have passed with your visit today, I am happy to state that our party is ready for the challenges ahead and we shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that APC returns to power in Oyo State in 2027.
“I have met virtually all the stakeholders across the state and I can tell you categorically that enduring peace and harmony has returned to our party.
“Almost everyone who left the party in the build up to the last general election is back while we have been receiving requests from members of other political parties, including the ruling PDP, to join the APC.
“We were in Ibadan North last week to receive hundreds of former PDP chieftains into our party and there are strong indications that the trend will continue unabated. In other words, we are working round the clock to further entrench the fact that APC is the party to beat in the state anytime.”
