Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Dr Sam Amadi, has frowned at the idea of state governors defecting to the ruling party to align with the centre.
Fielding questions in an interview on Arise Television monitored in Abuja, Amadi said such an act defies the logic of state creation.
He said: “The idea of having a state is being able to harness your resources and development.
“We have not got economics right in terms of development. So now that everybody is going to the centre, are we going back to centralizing?
“So basically, we’ve not got economics rights in terms of development, maybe politics, in some sense.”
Peoples Daily reports that many state governors have defected from their parties into the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC).
Among them are the Governors of Delta, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, Enugu, Kano, Plateau and recently, Taraba state.
