Nigeria has taken another major step toward improving healthcare delivery with the commissioning of a 100-bed Renewed Hope Specialist Hospital in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The facility, located in Dumbin Rauga, Dutsen Abba Ward, was inaugurated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs).
It reflects ongoing efforts to expand access to quality healthcare and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3—Good Health and Wellbeing.
Equipped with modern medical infrastructure, the hospital is designed to serve residents of Kaduna State and nearby communities with efficient and dignified care.
Speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, described the project as a strategic intervention aimed at closing critical gaps in healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable populations.
She emphasized that healthcare is essential, not optional, stressing the need for safe maternal services and better health outcomes for children and communities regardless of location.
According to a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communications, Desmond Utomwen, the hospital features fully equipped operating theatres, recovery rooms, private and general wards, consultation and scanning rooms, as well as a laboratory. It also includes modern equipment such as an ultrasound machine, delivery sets, and emergency response tools, significantly boosting healthcare capacity in the area.
The project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes inclusive and people-focused development.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, who facilitated the project, noted that the hospital represents a practical demonstration of government commitment to improving lives, especially in underserved communities.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, also praised the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. He added that the facility would strengthen the state’s healthcare system and complement existing efforts to improve access to quality medical services.
Officials at the event highlighted healthcare as a fundamental human right, calling for continued focus on maternal care, child health, and equitable service delivery.
The new hospital is expected to reduce pressure on existing health facilities, enhance service delivery, and improve overall health outcomes in the region.
With projects like this, Nigeria continues to move toward building a more resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of its growing population, while reinforcing public confidence in the sector.
