2027: Lokpobiri urges women, health professionals to back Tinubu’s re-election bid

Date:

Just 98 days to the commencement of 2027 general elections, Dr. Ogechi Lokpobiri, National Coordinator of the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance (TIHSEPA), has called on Nigerians—particularly women and health professionals—to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking with journalists on Friday in Abuja, on behalf of the alliance, Dr. Lokpobiri urged citizens to remain committed to the administration’s reform agenda, describing it as a necessary step toward repositioning the nation and building a foundation for sustainable development.

While acknowledging that current socio-economic reforms have introduced short-term challenges, she maintained that the sacrifices are essential to addressing long-standing structural issues.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country.

“While reforms may come with challenges, we must look at their broader objectives and the opportunities they are creating for a stronger and more sustainable Nigeria,” said Dr. Lokpobiri, who is also the wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

Addressing the role of women in national development, Dr. Lokpobiri emphasized that women hold significant sway over the country’s political trajectory and must not remain on the sidelines.

She urged them to mobilize peacefully in support of initiatives targeting healthcare delivery, family empowerment, and social welfare.

She also lauded the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as an “Icon of Impact.”

Dr. Lokpobiri highlighted the First Lady’s flagship initiative, the Renewed Hope Initiative, for driving social interventions in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment for vulnerable groups.

Outlining TIHSEPA’s mission, Dr. Lokpobiri reaffirmed the alliance’s commitment to mobilizing healthcare workers nationwide to support policies aimed at strengthening the country’s health infrastructure.

She noted that a robust health sector remains fundamental to national productivity and overall growth.
