A political analyst, Henry Shield, has called on opposition parties to unite ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying there is no justification for divisions within the opposition camp.
Shield made the remark during a political programme in Abuja, where he urged opposition leaders to build a common front capable of providing credible alternative leadership for Nigerians.
According to him, the country is in need of a coordinated opposition that can effectively respond to prevailing economic and security concerns.
He warned that internal rivalries and personal political ambitions among opposition politicians could weaken their chances in the next electoral cycle if not properly managed.
The analyst stressed that coalition discussions among opposition figures should be pursued with seriousness to avoid a repeat of past political setbacks.
“There is no reason to have a divided opposition in 2027. If the opposition parties truly want to rescue Nigeria, they must come together and speak with one voice,” he said.
Shield further urged political stakeholders to prioritise national interest above individual aspirations, insisting that unity remains a major factor in building a formidable challenge against the ruling party in 2027.
