A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Shehu Bawa, has pledged to tackle insecurity and youth unemployment if elected in the 2027 governorship election.
Bawa made the pledge on Tuesday while submitting his nomination form at the party’s state secretariat in Kaduna.
According to him, protection of lives and property remains the foundation for sustainable development in the state.
“Kaduna State cannot attain meaningful progress in an atmosphere of fear and violence,” he said.
The PDP chieftain lamented that several communities across the state were still battling banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities, describing the situation as urgent and unacceptable.
He assured that his administration would strengthen community-based security structures, improve collaboration with security agencies and restore public confidence in government’s ability to protect citizens.
Bawa also identified women and youth empowerment as major priorities of his proposed administration.
He noted that many young people in the state were facing unemployment and economic hardship, while women continued to experience social and economic challenges.
The aspirant promised to introduce policies that would encourage job creation, support small and medium-scale enterprises and expand youth participation in governance and decision-making.
Speaking further, Bawa expressed concern over the prevailing economic hardship affecting residents of Kaduna State and Nigerians generally.
“Many households are struggling with rising living costs,” he stated.
He also criticised the current administration over what he described as insufficient efforts to address the country’s socio-economic challenges, urging Nigerians to embrace change in the 2027 elections.
According to him, the PDP remains capable of restoring hope and addressing the nation’s pressing problems if given another opportunity to govern.
Bawa equally called on party members and supporters to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
“Collective effort will be vital to the party’s success,” he added.
