Alhaji Muktar Galadima, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency in Taraba State, has donated a 500KVA transformer to the Gura community in Ibi Local Government Area.
Presenting the transformer on Tuesday in Ibi, Galadima said the gesture was aimed at restoring electricity supply to the community.
He recalled that residents had complained to him about the frequent breakdown of the existing transformer, which he said had disrupted electricity supply in the area for years.
“I found it necessary to respond to their complaint by purchasing a brand-new 500KVA transformer, and I have also paid N1 million for its installation.
“This intervention is to ensure the restoration of electricity supply to the community. It is expected to provide relief to households, traders and other residents whose businesses and socio-economic activities depend on regular electricity supply,” he said.
Peoples Daily reports that prolonged power challenges had affected businesses and other essential activities in Unguwan Gura, with residents repeatedly coping with disruptions caused by the faulty transformer.
Peoples Daily also reports that residents took to the streets in jubilation, celebrating the return of electricity to the community after years of what they described as neglect.
Mallam Nasiru Musa, a resident, expressed appreciation for the intervention, explaining that the new transformer would help revive businesses, improve household activities and boost economic activities in the area.
Musa pledged to support Galadima in the 2027 election, saying residents would reciprocate the gesture with their votes to help him achieve his political ambition.
He further called on residents across Ibi and Wukari to support Galadima, describing him as a credible candidate capable of attracting significant development to the constituency.
It would be recalled that Galadima had earlier donated a 35KVA transformer to Ungwar Ciki in the same Ibi Local Government Area.
