The race for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District gained significant momentum yesterday as prominent youth advocate, Amb. Yerima Shettima, officially declared his intention to contest the seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Formally announcing his bid at the APC State Secretariat in Kaduna, Shettima positioned his candidacy as a mission to provide “quality, effective, and responsible” representation.
He emphasized that his entrance into the race is not defined by empty political rhetoric but by a concrete commitment to the people of Kaduna Central and the nation at large.
“I am not here to make empty promises. I am here to assure the party of my readiness to deliver. If entrusted with this mandate, I will not let the party, the state, or Nigeria down,” Shettima declared.
He further noted that the APC’s path to victory in 2027 depends on fielding candidates who possess genuine grassroots appeal and unalloyed loyalty to the party’s progress.
He lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for their transformative leadership in repositioning Nigeria and Kaduna State, respectively.
Responding to the declaration, the Kaduna State APC Secretary, Hon. Abubakar Rabiu Abubakar, described Shettima’s ambition as a testament to the party’s growing appeal among influential youth leaders.
Hon. Abubakar noted that Shettima’s candidacy aligns perfectly with Governor Uba Sani’s vision of ensuring equal opportunities for all members and fostering a new generation of political leaders.
“The party needs dedicated individuals like Yerima Shettima, who are working tirelessly to propagate our ideals in every nook and cranny of the state,” Abubakar said.
He further highlighted the milestones achieved under the current state administration, asserting that the APC remains the most viable platform for those committed to the socio-economic development of Kaduna State.
