The All Progressives Congress gubernatorial aspirant, Chief David Sabo Kente, popularly known as DSK, has declared that Taraba State requires decisive leadership to rescue it from underdevelopment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kente made the declaration on Thursday in Jalingo during a visit to the State APC Guest House Jalingo, where he met with party officials and stakeholders.
According to him, the current administration has failed to deliver tangible results despite being in office for nearly three years, argued that the state’s potentials in agriculture, solid minerals, and human capital remain largely untapped due to poor leadership direction.
The visit, which drew a large turnout of supporters, formed part of his ongoing consultations across the state.
Addressing a mammoth crowd that gathered outside the APC Guest House, the aspirant said his ambition was driven by the need to reposition Taraba and restore public confidence in governance, and promised to prioritize projects that directly affect the lives of ordinary citizens if given the opportunity to serve.
“Taraba State under the watch of the present administration has nothing to show within three years. We cannot continue like this when our people are yearning for development, jobs, and basic infrastructure,” he said
Kente maintained that his experience in business and public service had prepared him to address the challenges confronting the state, emphasized that his approach would be people-centered, focusing on inclusive growth rather than politics of exclusion.
He urged APC members in Taraba to remain united and ensure that the party presents its strongest candidate for the governorship race.
Kente said his administration would focus on reviving agriculture, improving healthcare delivery, expanding access to quality education, and creating opportunities for young people, added that accountability and transparency would define his leadership style.
“Leadership is about service, not personal enrichment. My goal is to give Taraba the kind of government that works for everyone, not just a few,” he added.
Also speaking, APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa who received DSK commended his commitment to the APC and his grassroots mobilization efforts.
Bawa noted that his entry into the race had energized the party base and broadened discussions ahead of the primaries.
