From Mustapha Adamu, Kano
The Kano state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from joining coalition, already joined by former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and other prominent members of the opposition party.
Speaking at a press conference in Kano on Thursday, Kano PDP Chairman, Yusuf Ado Kibiya, described the coalition as a platform that does not represent the interests of the members of the party but themselves.
“We categorically distance the Kano State chapter from the breakaway members who have formed a coalition under the African Democratic Party.
“This coalition does not represent the interests of the PDP, and we urge our members to remain focused on our party’s objectives,” Kibiya said.
The party Chairman assured the national executive of the PDP of the Kano chapter’s “absolute loyalty in all matters concerning the conduct of party business.
“ Our commitment to the party remains unwavering, and we stand ready to support the party’s initiatives and directives,” he emphasized.
“We assure all members that the entire membership of the PDP is united as one solid base. Our strength lies in our unity, and we will continue to work together to achieve our common goals.
“We are resolute in our commitment to providing quality leadership. Our focus will be on delivering effective governance and addressing the needs of our constituents.
“We emphasize the importance of registering with the PDP as the best option for the future Kano State and Nigeria. We believe that our party is the vehicle for positive change, and we encourage all citizens to join us in this journey,” Kibiya added.
Kibiya warned that any attempt to undermine or divide the party would be resolutely resisted.
“We affirm that all members of the PDP in Kano State are solidly committed to the party and its ideals.
“Our membership remains intact and resolute in supporting the PDP’s mission and vision for a better Kano and Nigeria.”
