The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State has launched a fresh reconciliation drive ahead of the 2027 general elections, inaugurating three committees to address grievances and internal disputes across the state’s senatorial districts.

The committees were inaugurated on Wednesday in Damaturu by the state’s Deputy Governor, Idi Gubana, who said the initiative was aimed at strengthening party unity and preventing internal disagreements from undermining the APC’s electoral prospects.

Muhammad Lamin will chair the committee for Yobe East, while Abubakar Aliyu and Suleiman Garba will head the committees for Yobe South and Yobe North respectively.

The committees are expected to mediate disputes arising from the party’s primary elections, identify aggrieved members and recommend lasting solutions acceptable to all sides.

They were also directed to maintain confidentiality during their deliberations, strengthen party structures and work towards ensuring the APC’s victory across all levels in 2027.

Gubana urged the committees to submit their reports to the state working committee within two weeks, including recommendations for sustaining unity and expanding the party’s support base.

State APC Chairman, Muhammadu Gadaka, said the members were selected on merit and urged them to justify the confidence placed in them.

He also directed party officials at the local government level to cooperate with the committees and facilitate their assignment.

The reconciliation effort comes against the backdrop of an ongoing court dispute involving Baba Wali, the APC’s Yobe governorship candidate, and Yunusa Maihaja, who contested against him during the party’s governorship primary.

The development underscores the APC’s attempt to resolve lingering disputes within its ranks before the 2027 electoral contest gathers momentum.
