Three men were on Friday, in Lagos, charged before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly kidnapping a 20-year-old man.
The accused, George Okoye, Jamiu Musa, and Joseph Abuchi are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping.
The accused, who are all tillers, did not give their addresses.
The prosecutor, ASP Etim Nkankuk, said the offences were committed on November 26 at 11.00 p.m. at Odunade Markert, Orile-Iganmu, Lagos.
He said the accused had kidnapped his colleague, Chinonso Nwoye, while they purportedly embarked on a journey to Calabar with their boss, Mr. Adeyemi Musa.
“Nwoye told his mother that he was travelling with his boss and the accused to Calabar for a contract job which the mother confirmed from his boss.
“When the mother called his son’s phone, it was switched off while
the boss also refused to pick his call. On enquiry at the association of tillers’ office at Ojota, Lagos, she was informed that her son was missing.’’
Nkankuk said the offences contravened Sections 269 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2011.
The trio, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.
The Chief Magistrate, Miss S.O. Solebo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case to February 17 for further hearing.(NAN)
