46 people rescued in Niger boat mishap

No fewer than 46 persons were reportedly involved in a boat mishap including women and children in which one died and 49 persons rescued in Shiroro local government of Niger state.

The incident occurred while on their way to Kwata and Zumba market in which the local cannon conveying the passengers was involved in an accident.

Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA, Ibrahim Inga confirmed the incident, noting that local divers in their proactive action were able to search the corpse of the missing victims.

He added that aside the forty six people rescued with one death recorded, three cattle also died while one survived the accident.
