5,000 youths undergoing training at National Youth Summit

The National Coordinator of the National Youths Summit, Norbert Onaga, yesterday said that no less than five thousand Nigeria youths are currently undergoing empowerment training at the youth’s summit in Abuja.

He said the three days programme would focus more attention on empowering the youths in their respective fields, adding that this year’s edition would feature foreign facilitators and delegates from UK, Ukriane, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana.

According to him, the event was organized by Golden Heart Foundation with support from the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Office of the Special Assistant to the Presidency on Youth and Student Matters, National Youth Council of Nigeria and the Nigerian Students’ Leadership Forum to ensure youths cut across six geo-political zones of the country were empowered adequately.

“This year’s edition will feature foreign facilitators and delegates from UK, Ukriane, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana, the training sessions will run morning and evening, 9am and 4pm respectively, registration, accommodation, transport and accommodation are free, our utmost desire is to see our youths doing well in their various chosen careers.

Meanwhile the Minster for Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna has charged National Youth Summit to empower youths meaningfully for the interest of the country as well as their immediate family.

He pleaded his support to the summit that had its first edition in 2007 and runs concurrently on youth empowerment and capacity building.

This year’s centenary edition themed “Generational Shift” was to mark the new generational youths who must be properly equipped and positioned.

The event is billed to end this Saturday with a gala night tagged: Unity Concert and Award Nite featuring J-Martins, Timi Dakolo, Samsong, Klint De Drunk, Roy, Phil Roberts, Osama, Mr. Steve, MC Olivia and others.
