The Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MLAN), Abuja chapter has called on the Federal Government to thoroughly investigate the controversial $9.3 million, which was discovered in a private jet belonging to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
In an interview with Journalists, Chairman of the association, Barrister Abdullahi Awal Mohammed said the investigation would not only be in the best interest of Nigerians, but will vindicate the federal government of insinuations that it was a part of Boko Haram sponsors.
Barrister Mohammed also said that it was unfortunate that such an issue is coming up at a time when the country is facing some turbulent trials, which has equally caused the Nigerian youths to lose interest in the government and the country as a whole.
Mohammed added that the claim that the seized money belongs to federal government, and that it was meant to purchase arms does not hold water, as according to him, everyone knows that has not been the appropriate process for such a business.
He further advised the government to be sincere and explain how the money got to South Africa in the first place and why it is yet to demand the seized money from the South African government.
