The President, Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, Dr Ibrahim Abdul Aladi has sports, especially weightlifting is key in promoting national bond achieving global recognition for the country.
The President who stated this on Wednesday in his Independence message urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in imbibing and enthroning the virtues that unites rather than ones that tear the country apart.
“On behalf of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, I join millions of compatriots at home and in the diaspora to joyfully celebrate our dear country, Nigeria, on the occasion of her 65th Independence Anniversary.
“This milestone offers us another opportunity to reflect on our collective journey as a nation—our resilience, unity in diversity, and the unwavering spirit of our people in striving for progress and greatness.
“As a sporting federation, we remain committed to upholding the values of hard work, discipline, and excellence which continue to mirror the true Nigerian spirit. We believe that through sports, particularly weightlifting, our nation can further strengthen bonds, inspire the youth, and project Nigeria’s greatness to the global stage.
“I urge every Nigerian to remain hopeful, united, and determined as we work together to build the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said.
Nigeria marked her 65th nationhood on Wednesday having gotten teir independence from Britain on October 1, 1960.
