Following the local government elections scheduled to hold on October 26th, the Kebbi State All Progressive Congress (APC) has said that over 800 people have purchased both chairmen and councillorship position forms to contest for the election in the party.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the party’s stakeholders meeting held at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi, yesterday, the spokesman of the party, Alhaji Sani Dododo said that over 500 are aspiring for the position of chairmanship, while 300 have also shown interest on the councillorship.
Dododo, said further that the party has expressed shocked over some people claiming to used the party leaders, Governor and political elite in the State as their godfathers, and urged any aspirants to shun such act as the party or government has no any candidate nor endorse anybody for the position.
“We want to used the method of adopting consensus for aspirants but if it did not work them we can allow them to go for the primary, but we want the election to be free, credible and fair elections”, he said.
The spokesman who further pointed out that the party has structured the state into six zones, which makes them to setup six committees that will handle the consensus across the State.
“We want to protect our party constitution that is why we will adopt the consensus methods and be fair to everyone”, he explained.
