Yobe state government has organized a training workshop to improve the capacity of health workers engaged in routine immunization to ensure proper data recording and reporting that would be clean, correct and useful and meaningful in assessing progress made in the immunization exercise.

Aliyu, who is also the chairman of the state task force on routine immunization and primary health care, regretted that despite the efforts of the state government in the immunization exercise, the state is being recorded low in performance, pointing out that this is unconnected with poor data input by the health workers, thus the need to improve their capacity for better result.
He therefore urged the participants to pay more than the usual attention to what would be taught them during the training, while appealing to the consultants which includes representatives of Melinda Bilgate foundation and that of Dangote foundation to bring the language that would be employed during the training to the level of understanding of the participants among whom are secondary school certificate holders and some, diploma holders.
The visit was part of a supportive supervision of routine immunization in low performing local government councils of the state, that include Bade and Bursari, as well as the supervision of the peer review of routine immunization data validation exercise in Fune local government area of the state by the state task force on immunization and primary health care.
Also speaking during the visit, the execute chairman, Yobe state primary health care, Dr. Hauwa Larai said the peer review exercise to be conducted by development partners is intended to provide certain well-defined guarantees for fitness, accuracy, and consistency of data for any of various kinds of uses which would equally ensure that routine the immunization program operates on clean, correct and useful data.
