Youth group under auspices of Bauchi South Youth Initiative has commended the effort of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and other National Assembly members from the North East on the establishment of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It could be recalled that President Mohammadu Buhari had recently assented to the Bill passed by the National Assembly for the Establishment of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), which was meant to provide succour to the people of the region.
A commendation and congratulatory message by the Coordinator of the Bauchi South Youth Initiative, David Daure, yesterday which was made available to newsmen in Bauchi, said the commission will cater for the humanitarian crises caused by the activities of insurgency in the region.
Daure said the efforts of the North East senators and House Representative members on establishment of NEDC would restore peace and normalcy in the North East and ameliorate the harrowing experience of the people as a result of the insurgency.
He said NEDC, since it has the full force and effect of the law, the region would collectively work towards the rehabilitation, reconstruction and rebuilding of the region.
The coordinator explained that the Speaker sponsored the NEDC establishment Bill in 2015, was seeking for the recovery, re -settlement, and rebuilding of the violence ravaged region and the convocation of an international donor conference for total reconstruction and rebuilding of the region it has become a reality.
