The Secretary for Education in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Isa Maina has charged members of the newly inaugurated Boards of the FCT Secondary Education Board (SEC) and the FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) to follow due process and extant rules and regulations, in all their official assignments and financial transactions.
Speaking during his post inaugural meeting with board members of both agencies at the Education Secretariat Headquarters.
He reiterated his intentions to address critical areas of the education sector in the FCT especially the primary and post primary sectors which he said require a lot of attention.
This was contained in a statement from Assistant Director, Information Education Secretariat, Anthony Ogunleye, on Wednesday.
Senator Maina reminded the members of the Boards about the anti-corruption stance of the FCT Minister and urged them not to allow personal friendships or political affiliations to influence their official decisions.
He further charged the board members to work closely with the staff of both agencies and assured them that his doors where always open to them at all times.
While responding, the Chairman of the UBEB Board, Dr, Kabir Matazu thanked the Secretary for warmly receiving them, so soon after the inauguration.
He assured the Administration that they will take heed to all the advice he had given.
He continued that he was not new to the education sector having lectured at the NDA for 17 years and also served as a polytechnic Rector.
He further assured the Secretary that they shared his vision for the development of education in the FCT and will key into the agenda of the FCT Administration in this regard.
In the same vein, the Chairman of the Secondary Education Board, Hon. Musa Yahaya also promised to follow due process in all his official assignments.
He recalled that when he was the Chairman of Abaji Area Council, following due process had always been his watchword and pledged the cooperation of all the new board members to the development of the secondary education sector of the FCT.
