All IDPs will return home by May, Shettima insist

Borno Governor Kashim Shettima yesterday insisted that all Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs taking refuge at various camps in Maiduguri will be relocated to their various areas latest by May 29th this year.
Governor Shettima made the declaration while assenting the 2018 Appropriation Bill amounting to N181,288 billion into law.
Our correspondent reports that the state assembly had last week passed the budget into law, with an upward increase of the sum of N11.514 billion on the initial the N170.3 billion estimate presented by the governor.
The governor observed that reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement projects being executed in all areas destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents are at various stages of completion.
According to him, in a bid to ensure hitch-free return of the IDPs to their respective localities, government has adopted effective modalities aimed at providing all necessary basic needs and infrastructures for the people.
