NLC donates materials to Gombe prison

Nigeria Labour Congress Gombe state chapter has donated materials to alleviate the suffering of inmates in Gombe prison.
Chairman of the chapter, Comrade Haruna Kamara made this known yesterday in Gombe when the Union visited the prison.
He said that, the donation was aimed at celebrating Nigeria LabourCongress at 40, called on prison officials to ensure that the materials get to the right beneficiaries.
According to him, as part of efforts to decongest the prison, the state chapter of the NLC were able to settle some fines in order to set 19 inmates free.
While commending the efforts made by NLC, Deputy Controller, Nigeria Prison Service in Gombe Mr. Ibrahim Gide appreciated the gesture and promised to distribute the materials to the beneficiaries.
He said the relationship between the prison and NLC was cordial and pledged that prison service will continue to partner NLC in their programmes.
Our correspondent reports that Gombe state Specialist Hospital was among the agencies that benefited from the materials donated by NLC Gombe state chapter.
Head of Nursing Services Gombe Specialist Hospital, Napoleon Bulus also showed appreciation for the gesture rendered by NLC stating that the hospital will always have a cordial relationship with the chapter.
