Fed Poly Bida appeals to FG for more funding, pays N260m arrears

The Federal Polytechnic Bida has appealed to the federal government for more funding to execute capital projects.
This is asa the poly said it spent N261 million on the payment of allowances from April 2017 to March 2018.
The Polytechnic Rector, Dr Abubakar A. Dzukogi said this in an interview with some journalists in his office in Bida while reacting to some allegations of abuse of office in some quarters.
Zhukogi emphasized that the measures were put in place as part of its determination to provide basic needs for its workforce and to ensure effective service delivery, through training and retraining of both academic and non-academic staff of the institution.
“We have paid all the staff allowances to date. We will continue to accord priority attention to the welfare needs of our personnel to enable them contribute positively towards the development of the institution,” he said.
He decried over inadequate funding and said the school is in dire need of additional hostels blocks to accommodate teaming students, office accommodation for about 700 academic staff.
He called on the private sector to partner with them in such regard.
Zhukogi also called for cooperation, understanding and support of the staff to enable them succeed.
He added that out of the 15,000 students currently undergoing various courses, only about 30 percent were accommodated.
