A house wife, Hanifa Adamu has dragged her husband to a Sharia court sitting in Kaduna to seek divorce because she can’t not fulfill her marital duties as a wife.
According to her, she is willing to return her husband’s N50,000 dowry.
Her counsel, Barrister Junaidu Aminu told the court that Hanifa got married to her husband in the year 2010 and now she is no longer interested in the marriage.
“My client wants the court to dissolve her marriage with her husband because she can no longer fulfill her marital duties as a woman to him.
“ But she is willing and ready to return his N50,000 dowry paid before their marriage in year 2010,” he said.
The husband, Ibrahim Isyaku a top government official in Plateau State was not in the court but was represented by his counsel.
In his reaction, counsel to the respondent Barrister Badamasi Adam said the court has no jurisdiction to entertain the case.
“ I want the court to give me more time to get more details of the case from my client who is presently out of the country on religious duty.
“After which I will give reasons why I think the court lacks jurisdiction to entertain the case,” he said.
The Judge Dahiru Lawal after listening to the counsels adjourned the case to 15 August, 2018.
