FCTA director bags transparency award

A civil society group, Peace and Anti –Corruption Advocacy has conferred an award of Transparency in Public Service on Mrs. Theresa Mbonu, Director Policy, Planning, Research and Statistics, Federal Capital Territory Administration.
This was in recognition of her indelible and sterling contribution in boosting the educational development of Nigeria by facilitating the establishment of the Nigeria/Korea Model School in Abuja.
In a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday and signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade James Okoronkwo, the group noted that Mrs. Mbonu’s skill as an education administrator, planner and researcher pioneered early child education in the federal capital territory.
The statement noted that as a desk officer of Early Childhood Education at the Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs. Mbonu facilitated the establishment of Pilot Early Child Centres (Pre-Primary) in FCT Public Schools and they are about 560 of such schools in the Federal Capital Territory today.
Furthermore, Peace and Anti-Corruption Advocacy lauded the pioneer Director, Policy, Planning, Research and Statistics for developing the first ICT Policy in Education for the FCT Education Secretariat in addition to organizing workshops for teachers, education managers, LEA Secretaries and policy makers as well as securing funding support from development partners for retreats and meetings for the Education Secretariat Management.
Concluding, the civil society group commended Mrs. Theresa Mbonu for transparently coordinating activities that is promoting educational development in the federal capital territory through building synergy with development partners like UNICEF, UNESCO and the Korea International Development Cooperation Agency.
Peace and Anti-Corruption Advocacy also gave kudos to President Muhammadu Buhari for commissioning the Nigeria/Korea Model School which is due to take off in September.
