Stakeholders task leaders on accountability

Stakeholders in Edo State have tasked leaders in the country to be accountable to the people and fight in injustice for the continuous existence of Nigeria ahead of the general election in 2019.
This was the views of speakers at a One-Day Conference of Faculty of Peace Organization to mark the 2018 World Peace Day Celebrations tagged: “road map to sustainable peace” held at the weekend in Benin City, Edo State.
An Islamic scholar and public affairs analyst, Mallam Asunojie Nuredeen, urged Nigerian youths to shun vices that can ruin their future and give peace a chance.
He called for policy review that will hel to address the widening inequality between the rich and poor in the Country for peaceful co-existence of Nigeria irrespective of gender, ethnic or religious or geographical backgrounds.
The chairman, Christians association of Nigeria (CAN), Edo State chapter, Rev. Phil Arojie and the Coordinator-general of Edo Civil society organizations, Leftist Omobude Agho, charged youths to rescue the Country from the economic morass and injustice to deepen democracy.
The duo in their separate remarks, argued that peace remains a product of justice and good governance which is a recipe to check restive youths.
The Convener and President, Faculty of Peace, Comrade Kelly Osunbor, challenged women to speak up and let their voices count on issues that concern them and the nation.
According to him, “if women must be in the political space, you must wake up to your responsibility”.
The guest lecturer and Nigerian Civil war veteran, Col. Paul Ogbebor (Rted), blame the secessionist agitation in some parts of the country on the imbalance in wealth distribution of wealth.
He described the situation whereby 2 per cent of the citizens controls the wealth of Nigeria as unacceptable and appealed to the coalition of the willing to initiate policies that would industrialise the nation and provide jobs for unemployed Nigerians.
