The management of Fosla Academy yesterday held a grand reception in honour of their players who excelled in the just concluded FCT 2018 Football League.
Fosla Football Club, FFC, were the first runner up in the league that ended on Friday after playing nine matches, with 7 wins, one draw and a loss.
Fosla FC were placed second on the final day after they trashed Basic Maracana 4 -1 in the last match while Flomat FC defeated Waco FC 1-0 in the final match to emerge champions of the league with maximum 9 points from three matches.
Fosla FC on their part had 4 points after a win, draw and a loss same point as Waco FC but Fosla had greater goal difference.
Addressing the players and students of the academy in the reception held in the School hall at their Karshi headquarters, proprietor of the academy, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdulahi thanked the players for performing beyond expectations in view of the short time the club was registered before the commencement of the league.
Lulu who was former Nigeria Football Federation President, said that the club which was registered in September went on to play the league with little or no time to train and blend.
He thanked the coaching crew lead by Coach Ambibola Samuel (Former Under 20 male coach), the management of Fosla Academy, stakeholders and the media for their support and expressed the determination of the management to ensure that the record thus achieved is improved on going forward.
Speaking on behalf of his players, captain of the club, Andrew Onyeke Jr, said although the players had targeted winning the league in their asking, nevertheless added that they are happy with the feat they achieved.
He thanked the management of the academy, the coaching crew and the proprietor for believing in them and supporting them adding that their priority is to improve everyday in their career.
“Our target was to win the league but getting to second position is a great feat. But that shows that one or two mistakes cost us the top prize. We will continue to improve every day.
“I am grateful to the management, the technical crew and most importantly, our father and proprietor for all their support. We will get better next year,” he concluded.
Fosla FC was registered on 24 September, 2018 and they played the opening match of the FCT League on 10th October where they defeated Beautiful Tours 6-1.
