Intervene in Kogi APC crisis- Onaji

Date:

From Omale Adama, Lokoja

As the crisis in All Progressive Congress (APC), deepens in Kogi state, a cheiftain of the party, Alhaji Abu Onaji has called on the national body of the party to urgently wade into the factional crises rocking the party to forestall further damage to it.

A worried Onaji made the call yesterday in Lokoja while interacting with newsmen on the lingering crises leading to emergence of two separate Interim committees the opposition party.

According to him, it is worrisome when some members of the party still claim that there is no factions, saying the two existing factions in the party each headed by Prince Abubakar Audu and Barrister James Ochali (SAN) are tearing the new party apart if urgent steps were not taken by the national leadership of the party.

The former Director General of Radio Kogi said “ despite the directives from the national body that Prince Audu should be a member of the state interim committee while Ocholi remain at the national secretariat as the Deputy Legal Adviser, the duo were busy struggling for the leadership of the party in Kogi state.”

He lamented that instead of the two members of the party to use their positions and connections to create a conducive atmosphere for members of APC in the state to come together and work for the betterment of the party at the forth coming elections, they were busy dividing the members.

Onaji, who called on the national secretariat of the party not to turn a deaf ear to what is happening in APC in Kogi state, appealed to the body to come out and place members where they belong, saying “I sincerely believe that APC is working to win election in the state.

“ It is going to be a difficult task because the seating governor has built a stone wall around the government and it will require the use of big hammer or bulldozer by APC to pull the wall down because at any level in the state the governor has foot soldiers who are ready to return him for second term,” he confessed.

He therefore appealed to members of the party to drop their grievances and chart ways forward for the success of the party.
