Delta State Police Command Asaba on Sunday confirmed the arrest of six suspected motorcycle snatchers at gunpoint, saying that the suspects were being detained for further investigation.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Adeyinka Adeleke who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists in Asaba, said that the suspects were arrested at different locations in Agbor Community, adding that fifteen stolen motorcycles were recovered from them.
Narrating how the suspects were rounded up, the Police boss disclosed that on August 12,2019 based on intelligence gathering by men on stop and search attached to Abavo police station, acted swiftly to arrest two suspects: Kingsley Onaro 25yrs and Agholor Udoka also 25yrs old, disclosing that the duo upon interrogation, confessed to the crime that they have stolen two motorcycles, one with Reg No FS135DT and another not registered.
Adeyinka said that Kingsley narrated how he goes from house to house during wee hours to steal motorcycles from where they are parked while the owners are asleep, and mentioned one Odogwu Chukwudi 41yrs old and three others who are buyers, receivers with fake documents.
The Police Commissioner further disclosed that among the suspects was a female agent Identified as Rita Ifeanyi who sells for others, adding that they would be charged to court on the completion of investigation
Meanwhile, a notorious member of an armed robbery gang that specializes in robbing tricycle passengers in Asaba and its environs was on Saturday lynched by residents of Umuagwu quarters.
Adeyinka, the state Police Commissioner who confirmed the incident to Journalists in Asaba said that the suspect was identified as Noso Emeka 37yrs old, adding that he is currently being detained for further investigation.
