In order to provide the Nigerian market with the quality of hair it deserves, Raj Hair, producers of the best human hair products in India recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU), with Hairgazym Beauty, a subsidiary of Achieving Greatness (Nigeria) Limited in Lagos.
Both companies officially launched the brand at the end of January 2020 in Lagos to provide the Nigerian markets with the best quality human hair that is also pocket friendly.
Mr. Harjit Ahuja, Raj Hair’s Business Development Advisor for Africa said if the Nigerian government can provide the enabling environment, the company may consider establishing a factory in the country in the foreseeable future.
He said: “We do close to about $15 million worth of hair export every year to different countries and now, we decided to come and do business into the African markets to provide people with the best quality hair in the world which is the pure Indian human hair also called the Remy hair or Temple hair.
“Africa historically requires hair. Raj Hair is one of the biggest markets in the world for human hair. Chinese hair is coming in abundance but people are not very satisfied today with the quality of hair that is available in the market.
“We have come to Nigeria and now we have signed a trade agreement for partnership with Hairgazym Beauty which is a subsidiary of Achieving Greatness Limited in Lagos.
“There is a tremendous amount of requirement for pure human hair which is scarce and when found, the quality is the question because they don’t know the source.
“Raj Hair is the oldest and the biggest human hair manufacturing company in India, having been in existence for the past 40 years. The company has within the period, supplied hair to over 60 countries around the world”.
Raj Hair Intl, previously known as Raj Impex, is a 40 year old company founded by its Chairman,
Mr. Benjamin Cherian, a Chartered Accountant and Harvard University Diploma holder. Mr. Cherian’s tryst with the hair business began in 1980 when he received an enquiry from Sumitomo Corporation, Japan for barber cutting.
Soon there were enquiries for remy and non remy hair and other hair products. At this point, the Indian hair industry was part of the unorganized sector, so the business savvy entrepreneur started his journey by venturing on an uncharted path. Through innumerous trial and error methods, and interacting with international experts, he structured the manufacturing process to achieve consistency in delivery.
