Covid-19: Niger Govt visits places to monitor compliance

In order to ensure strict compliance with restricted order to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Idris has assured of regular monitoring, enlightenment and awareness creation to ensure maximum compliance with directives.
He gave the charge while addressing journalists at Minna Abdullahi Kure Main Market during an unscheduled visit to ascertain the level of compliance of 8am to 2pm order to open for businesses, saying the measure is to enable people to stock food and other essential commodities within the period.
The Commissioner emphasized that due to relax of restrictions to open markets government was apprehensive of social distance and obey of rules and regulations hence the need for constant monitoring of its activities and all the local government areas of the state on regular bases as it will go back on drawing board so as to provide assistance by providing the required needs.
He reiterated the determination of government in sustaining the boarder closure of all the 12 entering points from neighbouring states saying that his visit to Lapai and Agaie local government areas indicated over 60% compliance while urging them to do more in times of compliance.
Idris explained that efforts on top gear for the use of Outside Broadcast Vehicles OBV and Public Address Systems PAS to every looks and crannies of the 25 LGAs in the state to educate, enlightened and create awareness on the safety measurers on how the citizens can protect themselves from the spread of Covid -19.
The Market Supervisor and Sarkin Kasuwa, Alhaji Ado Garba in an interview with reporters assured of their compliance with the directives just as defaulters would be punished by lucking up their shops although it came to them as sudden they have been able to procured 50 sanitizers placed in the 22 gates of the market for use.
He hinted that marketers have been mobilized to ensure they have hand washing container in all their shops despite difficulties in conducting social distancing but would continued to try their best by ensuring that instructions are followed
Garba reassured the state government of their readiness by closing shops by 2pm as directed adding that from 1:30 pm marketers will be instructed to commenced locking of shops so as to meet up with the 2pm order.
