Delta Govt debunks installation of 5G network, others

Delta State government on Sunday described as baseless and unfounded the rumour that a telecommunication compay is installing 5G network in the state.
The State Commissioner for Energy, Mr Basil Ganagana who spoke to Journalists in Asaba said that the cables that were laid in Asaba during the lockdown were 8.5KVA cables for an Integrated Power Plant ( IPP) Project being executed by the state government in partnership with a private company.
Ganagana said that the 8.5megwatt project is to power government establishments which include: Government House , Office of the Deputy Governor, the state secretary and other major government facilities in the state capital, adding” the cables that were laid have no connection with 5G network installation, contrary to rumour being pedded by some Persons, and as part of the state, the policy thrust ensure electricity in all parts of the state, the government decided to partner with a partner with a private company to provide adequate power supply in the state”.
While saying that Okowa’s administration is much concerned about the welfare of Deltans, the Commissioner disclosed the state government has put everything in place to bridge the gap of minor Services rendered by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company ( BEDC) adding” this is to ensure there is adequate power supply in the state”.
Ganagana said that the power sector has been deregulated, pointing out that government is carrying out of intervention activities guarantee enough power supply for Deltans, adding that before the Pandemic, the state government anned to extend power to more Communities but noted at the Covid-19 outbreak was slowing down the plan and assured Deltans that government was doing all it could to eke life better for them.
